This picture was taken off a remote island in the Exumas. We were delighted to discover hundreds of baby conch growing in the sandy weeds. Conch are plentiful in the Bahamas. In some places you can hardly walk down the beach without tripping over a shell. Conch are also a primary source of protein for the country, which makes you worry about the possibility of overfishing. The key to sustainability, however, is “conchservation” or avoiding eating juveniles likes these.
